Day Three - Rainy Monday

The third day greeted us with rain and wind. Just after the breakfast journalists from local tv and radio arrived in order to interview us and record our ordinary tasks throughout the day. York turned the engines on and we headed to the place where we learned how to collect samples the day before. There we split up into several groups and started to work on our own. After 2 hours we ended up with the first results which was awarded with improvement of weather – the sun started to shine.

Then it was time to use the force of the wind. We set sails – it was done a lot more skillfully than on the first day. However, wind was blowing from the direction we were heading to, so we had to sail against it. Luckily, thanks to crew’s knowledge and experience we managed to get to Gager, a lovely village on the island of Rügen.

Upon arrival to the port of Gager some of us decided to go swimming, although both water and air were cold. Despite that, they enjoyed it. The journalists who had been with us during the whole day said “Goodbye” and went away. At the very end of this enjoyable day we intended to have a campfire in the marina but since it was too close to buildings, we decided not to do so. We went for night walk instead.

The day was busy and a bit tiring, but at the same time you could see everyone was happy and excited. As it was actually the first day on normal “scientific” schedule, we know what to expect next.
