Day Eight - Discussing our results

Working on our presentation

This morning we all woke up somewhat tired from the late evening yesterday. After breakfast we packed some equipment and headed towards the Ocean museum here in Stralsund where we got access to a seminar room during the day. We started off with a guided “behind the scenes” tour at the museum where we got to see how they managed the aquariums. Later on we got some time to see the aquariums from the official side too.

The Ozeaneum here in Stralsund is one off the biggest in Europe and it was elected the European museum of the year 2010. It is specialized on coldwater species that live in the Baltic Sea and the northern parts of the Atlantic Ocean. And today we’ve seen penguins, starfish, shark, cod, salmon, crabs and a lot of other interesting things.

We had lunch in town, a lot of people were happy to have some spare time to walk around in the city. Then began the hard work of making our posters and presentations for the conference in Warnemünde on Monday the 20th of September. It is not easy to make a good poster but nearly all of us made it through with some candy and the help from our teachers. Dinner was as always delicious, mashed potatoes with fried vegetables, salad and apple cream for desert.

Tonight we are planning to give our posters the last icing on the cake and after that we might watch a movie. For tomorrow we got an extra half hour of sleep before we must clean the boat and then take the train to Rostock – Warnemünde. Tonight’s also the last night here on LOVIS and we will miss it a lot, even though we’re longing for somewhat bigger beds.

Now the dishes await us so that’s why we’re saying over and out from LOVIS for today,
Martha, Kerstin and the rest of the team

Hi there!

It's interessting to be one of those waiting for the updates of your blogs now. Hopefully you enjoyed the museum yesterday. (I did, although I had only one hour left for it before I finally had to leave you and Lovis.)
And although I really enjoyed sleeping away half of the day today (in my own bed even), I already miss you guys!
See you tomorrow in the institute!
Anna
