Day 9 - Łeba - on way to Sopot

11.09.11, 18:42 by Sven Hille (comments: 0)

Today is very busy day. Packing all our things quickly and efficiently just to be in the bus to Sopot on time! The journey was quite long as we were travelling along the seaside routes. On the way we visited the lighthouse at Niechorze. The weather was perfect so we can admire the beautiful landscapes around us. Some of us were even singing but it was too warm inside the bus so finally some of us just took a little nap. Early afternoon we reached The Slowinski National Park - The Land of Water, Wind and Sand with its moving dunes, unique in Europe. First we had a chance to take electrical vehicles (so called melex - after the producers’ name).
Thenafter we walked a few kilometres to the dunes. We were admiring the fantastic landscapes like on the real desert. We spent wonderful free time to enjoy jumping and rolling down a huge dune hill. The nice group photo was taken. Our bodies formed the name of the WEBLAB (see the photo of T. Olechwir below). We also went to the beach where the water was so calm as on the lake but cold what we checked by washing our legs from the sands. Unfortunately we were in hurry so we had to come back to our bus. In the evening we have arrived at our camp located in the border between Gdynia and Sopot. We were welcome by a quick storm and by the host organization IO PAN representatives – Joanna and Regina as well as the project Partners: Lena from IOW Warnemuende and Marija from University of Klaipeda. We went out for the dinner in “The Pick and Roll “ club where the lesson of tango was going on. Some of us tried same but finally we decided to go for a long walk to see Sopot by night – as it was needed after nearly whole day staying in the bus We visited marina on the Pier (the longest wooden pier in the Baltic region) and Crooked House on the Monte Cassino – the main street of Sopot. Long walk, a lot of iodine and oxygen made us tired enough to go directly to bed as tomorrow we will have our presentation, recapitulation of the camp and saying good bye – too many exciting things!
