Another day on the south Baltic science camp. A lovely sunny day with a full program. Today we analyzed our rock samples from yesterday with an interesting explanation for every stone by the German geologist Werner. We have had a lot of days studying sediments and today we went to do sediment drilling at the weather station to observe the different layers ourselves. It was hard work but I think that most people liked the physical work. The girls and the boys had a competition about drilling the deepest hole and the humiliated boys had to admit their defeat. Then we had a little spare time so we went playing games outdoor in the sun.
After lunch we had an exercise about costal protection using the methods and information we have learned during the camp. So we were split in to 5 groups and then we were given 5 different locations we had to “protect”.
In the end of the day we had another lecture. This time it was about what it was like to be a marine scientist. It was very interesting to hear about the work scientist were doing around the world.
