Sveiki!
Everyone woke up quite hard this morning. Some of the people overslept. After super delicious breakfast Tomas Labuz explained us how to evaluate geomorphological exercises and field measurements of RAINY Monday. Later, we sieved samples of sand taken from Swinoujscie beach. Everyone was excited to recall their childhood, and play in the “sandbox”.
Then we were introduced to short course of mineralogy and petrology, sedimentary processes, essentials of ice age phenomena, by Werner Bartholomeus. It was interesting to learn more about origin and age of the rocks, which we see every day and don’t even wonder about things like that .
After filling our bellies with tasty roasts, we went to the beach, and were introduced to even more interesting aspects of rocks formations and origin. The wind was WILD, and waves were quite big, but Justina from Lithuania went into the sea (for the sake of SCIENCE) to measure the temperature of the water (which was 15 degrees… w00t?!). Not only we found lots of different rocks, but also some of the local fauna representatives : hairy caterpillar, big slug, and a spider… Awwww…
In the evening we played the game “capture the flag”. The game was very exciting, and fun. The game started peacefully, but ended like a real war in the rain! Everyone came back wet, and dirty, but with happy smiles on their faces.
