There are still situation when you can't keep directly the plan of the cruise. That happened today. We planned to go to the Hornsund Fjord in order to deploy our moorings but there were a lot of sea ice that we couldn't enter the Fjord. Our Chief Scientist decided to go to the next section. So now hydrological scientists have a free time but there are still another investigations continued, mainly the aerosol research. Finally the sky was clear so the Microtops, which measure aerosol optical thickness, could be used. The Laser Aerosol Spectrometer (LAS) that can classify aerosol particles works as well. We only had to fix the Anemometer and the CO2/H2O Analyzer that had been broken.
