Successful scientists have a truly great life. They travel around the World, meet inspiring people, study scientific fields that interest them and what is even more important they do it  for work. Living their dreams while working for societies, environmental scientists are often courage enough to investigate remote places far away from their homes. That diverses “normal jobs” from doing science. No matter if it is only a one day field campaign or a few weeks on board of a research vessel, collecting samples for analyses is always worth participating. Not only data collecting is a vital source of knowledge for environmental sciences but it might also be a journey full of experiences that you will never forget. What should you do when someone offers you an adventure like this for the first time? Say YES, no doubts about that.

About 80% of the World's human population live ca 100 km from the seacoast not without any reason. Oceans provide loads of resources, food, cheaper transport or maritime jobs. For this reason human activity have been affecting marine environment for centuries. Luckily, we have started to notice problems when there is still time to repair this harsh relationship. Societies, constantly growing they awareness of the human impact on our planet due to a better education, are gradually forcing governments and investors to choose environmentally-friendly solutions with application of sustainable development. Simultaneously, we are gaining knowledge about global ecosystem, which slowly helps us to prevent from some of natural disasters, or to decrease pollution.

Marine Sciences offer jobs for wide range of scientists. Chemists, physicists, biologists and geologists are the most obvious group, but there is also a place for economists, sociologists, engineers and many more. Still, there are many things to be done to protect our planet. This is the time to investigate, this is the time to explore, this is the time to collect samples... and I am here to make it simple.
