Hi, I am Diana Krawczyk, a PhD student at University of Szczecin, specialized in palaeoceanology. My studies aim at Holocene palaeoreconstructions of surface water temperatures off West Greenland based on diatom microfossils. These studies are involved in DFG-funded ‘Disko Climate’ international project. Recently, I started phytoplankton analyses of surface water samples from West Greenland Gothåbsfjord system within Marin Basis Nuuk (MBN) programme which is a part of Greenland Ecosystem Monitoring programme (GEM). My goal is to take part in fieldwork in Western Greenland in order to collect samples of Arctic diatom species for culturing and oil acquisition as potential for biodiesel. This research topic is of great interest also for scientist around the world and so I took the chance to report on my studies in Australia. If you like to know more about this, stay tuned!

Dear Diana,
we are wondering why the project is called Disko Climate, and what does DFG stand for?
Thanks!

Dear Boris,
Disko due to Disko Bay, West Greenland, where mentioned studies are focused on; and DFG is Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (funding source).
Cheers!
