Unique conference

18.10.12, 12:50 (comments: 0)

The Australian conference was a unique opportunity for all participants to exchange their personal scientific material converted into microscopic slides with each other. The purpose of these slide sessions (microscopic work) was to learn and since each set of microscopic slides was coming from a different region of either Arctic or Antarctic, the diversity of diatom species revealed wide variety of diatom shapes and sizes. Even more, occasionally there were extinct species which nowadays can only be found as fossils in sediment core records. A lot to be learnt from a conference like this. Nevertheless, scientific part was not the only worth remembering part of my trip to Sydney. Nice and kind people are always attending such scientific meetings serving good mood during stay. Not mentioning the zoo trip which exposed the unique wildlife of this exotic region of the world.
